Hi there,

Restaurants Canada continues to be at the table, working with all levels of government to ensure the concerns of the foodservice community are being addressed, while working with our partners to provide you with resources relevant to your operations, as the response to COVID-19 continues to evolve.

Federal Announcement: Wage Subsidy Extended to End of August

In response to ongoing engagement from Restaurants Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed that the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program will be extended by 3 months.

During his daily announcement this morning, he explained that the program will now be available through the end of August to help support small, local businesses, such as restaurants, who will continue to need support as they reopen. This was a key takeaway from the latest Restaurants Canada survey.

In a backgrounder released today the federal government committed to consult with industry over the next month on potential adjustments to the program to incent jobs and growth, including the 30% revenue decline threshold.

Restaurants Canada continues to be at the table, working closely with the federal government to ensure the needs of foodservice are addressed as this program continues to evolve.
