What's to come in the Restaurant Industry 2015-2019?

What's in the future for our vibrant industry? Last month we held a special event, the Brain Boosting Breakfast at our HQ in Toronto. A breakfast - specially catered by our President and CEO, Donna Dooher with her famous buttermilk pancakes, was held as a special thank you to our close partners and local community.  This event included a special session aimed at giving restaurant and foodservice operators an inside look at what the future holds for our beloved industry.

Our Senior Economist, Chris Elliott shared industry insights derived from our Restaurant Industry Forecast: a 5 year overview of what we can expect to come in Canada from 2015-2019.  We heard some optimistic news regarding limited growth across provinces, as well as some honest thoughts on how other markets (U.S., China) could negatively impact our own here in Canada - and what that would ultimately mean for our restaurant landscape. The report tackles issues such as the drastic decline in Alberta oil prices to the low real GDP growth rate (as recently reviewed by the Conference Board of Canada). For those who were unable to join us in October, we have great news for you: we recorded the entire talk and have it available for your streaming pleasure on our website, free for members!

Here is a little teaser of what to expect from the forecast.
